WHAT IT IS
What is NDIS psychology?
NDIS psychology is therapy that builds capacity. Our psychologists work on anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, trauma and life transitions, and shape each session around how you think and communicate. It's funded through the NDIS Capacity Building budget, usually under Improved Daily Living.
Emotional regulation
Skills for handling big feelings and changes, in the moment and over time.
Neuroaffirming
We support your neurotype rather than trying to change it.
Trauma-informed
Many people carry trauma, so we adjust our approach until sessions feel safe.
Building capacity
Practical skills for routines, independence and the goals in your NDIS plan.
WHAT WE WORK TOWARDS
What good therapy feels like
For you, or for the person you support.
Feeling understood

Calmer days
Ways to handle big feelings and changes that work outside the session too.
Skills that stay
Practical tools for regulation, routines and independence.
Feeling safe
A trauma-informed approach, where trust comes first.
Everyone on the same page
Your family and support team know the strategies, so they get used day to day.
Progress you can see
Therapy linked to your NDIS goals, so the work adds up.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
What NDIS psychology includes
Therapy with a clear purpose, delivered where it works best.
Functional capacity building
Skills like regulating emotions during a transition, or managing executive functioning tasks in a busy house, for more independence day to day.
Neuroaffirming, trauma-informed therapy
Support for your neurotype rather than trying to change it, with the approach adjusted for trauma histories so sessions feel safe.
Disability-focused expertise
Daily work with autism (levels 1 to 3), intellectual disability, acquired brain injury and psychosocial disability, and how they show up in real life.
Mobile, clinic and telehealth sessions
Sessions at home, in our Moorabbin clinic or by telehealth across Melbourne, with families and support teams involved so strategies work beyond the session.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Who is NDIS psychology for?
People with an NDIS plan who want support with their mental health and wellbeing, and the families and support teams around them.

A TEAM BEHIND YOU
Supported by a clinical team
Outcomes Lab is led by a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner. Complex cases are discussed as a team, and every practitioner has regular supervision, so you get the benefit of the whole team.
If behaviour support or a neuropsychological assessment would help too, we can bring that in without starting again somewhere else.

QUESTIONS
Questions we're often asked
Is this limited to talk therapy?
No. Talking is part of it, and we'll make sure it feels safe to do that. NDIS psychology also has to build capacity, so we work on skills like emotional regulation and independence, tied to the goals in your plan.
Will you come to us?
Yes. We offer mobile sessions across Melbourne, as well as telehealth and sessions in our Moorabbin clinic. Seeing you at home or out in the community means we can practise skills where you'll use them, and bring your support network in when that helps.
How is psychology different from positive behaviour support?
Psychology supports mental health and emotional wellbeing, usually one to one. Behaviour support looks at why behaviours of concern are happening, changes the supports and setting around someone, and usually involves the support team day to day. Many plans include both.
What happens after I refer?
Our director-led intake team reviews the referral for clinical fit, and you hear from us within 24 hours. If we're the right fit, we match you with a psychologist with the right skills and arrange the first session.
Do you take every referral?
No, and we'd rather tell you early. Before we say yes, we check that our team has the right skills and experience for what's needed. If we don't, we'll say so straight away, so you're not left waiting on a provider who was never the right fit.
Do you offer Medicare-funded sessions?
No. We don't provide Medicare services. We focus on the NDIS, because that's where our expertise is. Neuropsychological assessments are also available privately, and you don't need a referral for them.
